Mr. Okulony holds a master of science in conservation and natural resource management from Makerere University and a bachelors in environmental science, technology, and management from Kyambogo University, as well as a postgraduate diploma in project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) from Philanthropy University. He has also undergone relevant professional training in climate change and sustainable development, project planning and management, media relations and communication, management accounting for non-governmental organizations (MANGO), negotiation strategies and consensus building, and others.
Furthermore, Mr. Okulony has strong abilities and skills in public administration, computer applications, leadership and general management, communication skills, report writing skills, knowledge acquisition and sharing, and first learning and adaptation abilities.
Before joining EGI, Mr. Samuel Okulony worked as programs and research coordinator at the Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO). At AFIEGO Mr. Okulony was responsible for planning, organizing, mobilizing, and reporting on the implementation of organization programs, projects, and activities. He was also responsible for ensuring the project monitoring and evaluation activities were undertaken against the set targets in the project work plans to inform strategies and approaches.
Samuel was also responsible for quality control and publication of organization materials, including monthly newsletters, policy briefs, and research papers, among others, and was an active member of the fundraising team responsible for generating ideas for the development concept notes and proposal writing done in line with the organization's vision and mission.
Mr. Okulony has strong abilities in team building, knowledge acquisition and dissemination, organizational management, policy research, project implementation and reporting, convening multi-stakeholder dialogues, and facilitating loose networks, among others.
Patience, the Finance and Administration Manager at EGI, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration majoring in Financial Management from Uganda Management and Technology University.
Holds a Certified Public Accountants Certificate of Uganda (CPA) from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). She also holds a Kenyan accounting technician Certificate (KATC) from the Kenya Accounting and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB).

Before joining EGI, Patience worked at the Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy as a finance manager from September 2016 to March 2020 and at at the Africa Institute for Energy Governance as a Finance Officer from June 2009– January 2016 as well as at Pearl Development Group as an administrator/account assistant from 2002 to 2003.

John is the current Programs Coordinator at the Environment Governance Institute (EGI). John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Technology, and Management from Kyambogo University and a postgraduate diploma in project planning and management from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI). He also holds a certificate in research participant protection.
Prior to joining EGI, John worked as a research assistant at Makerere University School of Public Health on a variety of thematic research projects pertaining to public health. He also worked as a research assistant on the Shea Nut Tree research project with the National Forest Resources Research Institute (NAFORI).
John has extensive research skills, strong public speaking abilities and project management, where he coordinates various conservation and ecosystem restoration projects at EGI.
John is adaptable and is currently driven to advance his career as an advocate for a just energy transition.
Joy is currently a communications associate with EGI.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from Makerere University. Before joining EGI, Joy worked at C.O.U. Family TV as a field news reporter and did her internship training at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation as an intern trainee in news reporting from June 2021–August 2021.
Joy is a passionate environmentalist dedicated to conserving and protecting the environment for future generations through her innate curiosity and belief in the power of communication to effect change.
Elizabeth Namagembe is a volunteer at the Environment Governance Institute (EGI).
with good interpersonal and communication skills, is a result-oriented person, and is passionate about environmental journalism and communication.
Elizabeth worked with IUIU FM as a trainee journalist and Big FM Mbale as a news reporter, though she later joined Standard Television (STV) Uganda as a news reporter from 2018 to 2019.
Elizabeth holds a certificate of mature age/aptitude test from the Islamic University in Uganda. Certificate in Basic Principles in Journalism from the UMCAT School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Cirrus Kabaale is the Programs and Research Coordinator at EGI. He has more than 7 years of experience in policy research, analysis, and advocacy and has authored a number of policy-oriented studies and articles. He holds a bachelor's degree in social work and social administration from Islamic University in Uganda. He has undergone several trainings, including climate change and sustainable development, project planning, and management.
Cirrus is an active member of the fundraising team and is responsible for generating ideas and writing project proposals in line with the organization's vision and mission.
Before joining EGI, Cirrus worked with the Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO) as a project assistant. He implemented projects on youth and livelihoods, land rights and access to justice, climate change resilience and adaptation, and oil and gas, among others, using different approaches, including lobbying and advocacy.
